WHAT IS SILVER?

Silver is a precious metal with a luminous white colour. Most of the time, it is combined with other metals to create more durable and stronger jewellery. This metal alloy is then called sterling silver.

At Heart to Heart Jewellery, we understand the limitations of sterling silver. Due to oxidisation, sterling silver is prone to tarnish. Hence, we have created our very own “LOVE” formulated anti-tarnish silver jewellery, giving our pieces more lasting stunning appearance.

CAN “LOVE’ FORMULATED SILVER TARNISH?

The rate of the tarnishing process depends on the contact with water (including bathing, perspiration and air moisture) and chemicals (Sulphur pollution in the air, soaps, detergents and cosmetics).

CAN TARNISH BE CLEANED?

It is quite easy to clear tarnished silver. If the silver items are not set with any diamonds, gems or other materials, simply follow a DIY cleaning method using a bowl lined with tinfoil and filled with water, vinegar and salt.

If the silver jewellery pieces contain gems or diamonds, use a silver cleaning lotion or jewellery wipes to avoid damaging the stones. Wear gloves if you’re cleaning the silver rings with your hands.

CAN SILVER TARNISHING BE AVOIDED?

Though silver will eventually tarnish, one can slow down the process by storing the silver pieces correctly. Use an airtight box or zip lock bag for storage. You may also add a piece of chalk or silicone beads into the jewellery box to remove excess moisture.

Another measure that could help slow down the rate of tarnishing is removing silver jewellery pieces when in a shower, sauna, spa or pool.
